What a great way to finish the season yesterday, pretty much a full squad to choose from (21 yesses!!), a lovely Spring morning, our friends from Hindhead the opposition and the pitch in fantastic condition despite the recent chronic lack of rain. The Dons didn’t disappoint, a hard fought first half into the wind and up the hill laid the foundations for a second half rout which saw Hindhead blown away.

Nick stole the show with a ruthless hat-trick and in doing so, also pipped Cosser to the leading goal-scorer award. It is fantastic to have two strikers at the club who pretty much guarantee you a return of a goal or better every two games. At any level, that is a massive head-start on the opposition. Ross finally got on the score sheet with his 23rd long range effort of the morning, and Pete wrapped things up with a ridiculous lob towards the end of the game as the Dons enjoyed almost total control.

I thought everyone played their part yesterday, from the Cat in his farewell appearance all the way through to the boys up top and all five substitutes, who really turned the screw after half time. MOTM is Nick- difficult to overlook a hattrick, but Neil’s performance at centre mid wasn’t far behind, and he once again demonstrated why he is still so important to the first team. Your time will come!! Special mention also to Ross who battled like a dog/ lion/ pygmy/ rat alongside Neil and really helped drive the team forward as well. Great to have Grandpa Jim back as well after four months out injured, and recently back from his very successful sex tour of Thailand.
