Players drop like flies in the heat at Badger Park

Hambledon faced another new team at Badger Park after the season opening win against Tongham. With Tye and Montgomery off on holiday for a couple of weeks and Ben Hodkin and Bailey out injured. Joel was welcomed back with Paul Boxall helping out from the Vets.

The Dons started well and raced into an ealry two nil lead as Wrecclesham just couldn't deal with Batch's long throws. First Jamie Grove helping one over the line despite Wreccelsham's protests. It was the same story 10 minutes later as the failed to deal with a long throw and the ball hit Matt Kyseni before hitting Joel and finding it's way into the net.

After a great first 20 minute spell the Dons took their foot off and were encouraging Wreccelsham onto them. A series of freekicks and set pieces were dealt with as Callum wasn't really tested. Vinnie was on the end of a nasty two footed tackle which the ref didn't even speak to the offender.

The first half petered out as the Dons were lucky to go into the break with their two goal lead intact.

Matt Balls was introduced at half time for Paul Boxall. As the Dons started slowly but again Callum was realtively untroubled in goal. Matt Kyseni was forced off sick so the gaffer went up top for a brief cameo before Si Boxall said his hammy was tight. Joel was looking nervous now he would have to complete the 90.

Batch found his way into the book from a cumulative foul point. And the Wrecclesham lads tried to get him off for a sin bin which the ref was having none off. Batch was on hand to clear his own clearance off the line and then nearly put a freekick into his own net.

It wasn't really the alamo from Wreccelsham who were a decent outfit but the Dons were certainly glad to hear the final whistle.

MOM - Aidan great way to celebrate his 18 birtday with a fantastic in the middle of the park

Next up Keens Park Rangers as the Dons await the absentees for another week
