Dons Made to Pay for Poor Decisions

Dons Made to Pay for Poor Decisions

Luke Winter16 Nov 2019 - 18:49

Hambledon lose first league game at S&H

Hambledon went into this game at Shottermill without a league defeat and looked to build on what’s been a great start to the season.
Dave Terry who recently signed from Milford and Witley was making his debut in goal whilst Dan Rice came in at right back.

The Dons didn’t start the game too well and found it difficult to gain momentum.
Passes were loose and S&H were working hard.

A free kick was floated into the box for the home side on the left wing & whilst our No1 Dave Terry screamed ‘away’ the ball was left when it could have been cleared. A Shottermill player got a shot away which was brilliantly saved by Dave Terry however the rebound fell kindly to another player.
1-0

The Dons looked to respond well and after Matt Terry swung in a good cross from the left, skipper Luke Winters left footed shot dragged wide from 12 yards.

Matt Terry was causing problems down the left and linking well with Felix and Kuda.
Matt Terry had a shot from 20 yards which went over the bar. Hambledon were turning the screw and the equaliser came shortly after.

Rob Green played Jamie Grove In down the right Wing who first time played a ball low into the box for Kuda Kamoto to finish home.
1-1 Kamoto

The Dons took the lead just before half time through good work down the left. Matt Terry picked the ball up and turned past two players before slipping Kuda In who drove on goal and finished smartly into the bottom corner.

HT 1-2 Kamoto

An early chance fell to us in the second half after a low ball into the box couldn’t be converted.

We were made to pay as right after Hambledon found themselves pegged back.
A blind pass played inside our own half was given away and after Luke Winter couldn’t stop the danger on the sweep the striker who in the first half kicked Dave Terry in the face finished to equalise.

Not long after that it was 3-2 to S&H. A corner wade met with a free header and a slight touch diverted the ball onto Felix Onabanjo for an own goal. Unlucky but poor marking from Hambledon.

A few chances fell to the away side after that.
The best chance was a header from Skipper Luke Winter after a good ball in from Jack Field- however it was straight at the keeper.
Jack Field & Tom Winter Who had entered the play on 69 minutes both had shots but off target.

Matt Metcalfe came on with 20 to go & helped turn the screw but unfortunately Hambledon couldn’t get back into the game.

FT 3-2

Poor defending as a team and individually cost us three points today and a very good lesson and wake up call for everyone.

MOM Matt Terry

Next up West End at home in the league
