Hambledon will take a one nil lead to Zurich after coming from behind to beat FC Kempttal at Badger Park 3-2

Hambledon welcomed foreign visitors to Badger Park in the form of FC Kempttal from Zurich Switzerland. With ex player Chris Grove bringing his new team over to step up their pre season after their winter break.

With Neil Evans and Rob Green both missing. Jack Field was handed a start in the middle of the Park with Walshy coming in for Neil at the back. Hambledon were worried when they had word their European opponents were on their way and they were in team tracksuits – must be good.

Hambledon settled well and had the better of the chances testing Ian Day in goal for Kempttal for the day. Old boy Chris Reed was also back at Badger Park to bolster the opposition numbers as well. Hambledon had an early chance when Hambledon stung the hands of Ian from distance. The Dons were having all of the ball but it was FC Kempttal breaking down the right hand side to cross for a tap in.
Hambledon kept plugging away and Kuda had a shout for a penalty which was waved away. They didn’t have long to wait to draw level. With Adam Rogers swinging in a corner for an unmarked Seb Jefferies to head home. 1-1.

Hambledon should have gone into the break a goal up but Jack Field was denied a goal with Chris Grove well placed to head home. The Dons were awarded a penalty why Seb Jefferies was tripped in the box. He stepped up to take the resulting penalty but saw his effort come back of the bar with Charlie Reddick heading over.

The Dons were made to pay for this when they twice gave the ball away trying to play themselves out of danger and FC Kempttal didn’t need asking twice to take a 2-1 lead at the break.

The Dons introduced Connor Martin and Dan Burrows as they looked to take the game to their visitors down the slope. A long ball found Kuda and he shrugged off his marker to slide the eqauliser home. 2-2.

The Dons had chances to take the lead with Ian Day in inspired form to keep out Kuda. Matt Kiley was introduced for Jonny Suarez for his first minutes of the season. Managing to give Josh Hill two awful back passes and tread on his toe.
The Dons held on for a comfortable 3-2 victory. With talk of the 2nd leg to be played in Zurich in September.
